aus des Teuffels finstern Höle/
und der schweren Sünden-Noth/
kräftiglich heraus gerissen/
und mich solches lassen wissen/

sey doch ietzt/ O Gott/ mein Hort.

Jesu! you who my soul
through your bitter death
from the devil’s dark pit
and the heavy pain of sin
have mightily snatched away,
and have made this known to me
through your gracious word;
be now, O God, my stronghold.
