Text known to Bach (Weimar 1713):

Warum betrübst du dich/ mein Hertz/
bekümmerst dich und trägest Schmertz
nur um das zeitlich Gut/
vertrau du deinem Herrn und Gott/
der alle Ding erschaffen hat.

Why, my heart, are you so afflicted,
distressed and enduring sorrow
merely about worldy goods?
Put your trust in your Lord and God,
who has created all things.

Melody: attrib. Bartholomäus Monoetius, 1565, version of Frölich bin ich auß hertzen grund
Text: ? Hans Sachs (1494-1576)
