Der Tag der ist so freudenreich/
aller Creature/
den[n] Gottes Sohn vom Himmelreich/
über die Nature/
von einer Jungfrau ist gebohrn/
Maria du bist auserkohrn/
daß du Mutter wärest.
Was geschah so wunderlich/
Gottes Sohn vom Himmelreich/
der ist Mensch gebohren.

The day is so full of joy
for all creatures.
For God’s Son from the kingdom of heaven,
beyond nature,
is born of a virgin.
Mary you are chosen
to be the mother.
Was anything so wonderful?
God’s Son from the kingdom of heaven
is born man.
