Ich ruf zu dir/ Herr Jesu Christ/
ich bitt/ erhör mein Klagen:
Verleih mir Gnad zu dieser Frist/
lass mich doch nicht verzagen/
den rechten Weg/ O Herr/ ich meyn/
den wollest du mir geben/ dir zu leben/
mein’n Nechsten nütz zu seyn/
dein Wort zu halten eben.
English
I call to you, Lord Jesus Christ,
I ask, hear my complaint:
grant me grace at this time,
let me not despair.
I love the true path, O Lord,
may you give it to me, to live for you,
to be of use to my neighbour,
to keep your word exactly.
